A juvenile delinquent turned cold blooded killer, Jesse Pomeroy currently stands as the youngest person to be convicted of first degree murder in the state of Massachusetts. Even before he killed, Jesse Pomeroy had encounters with the law. He would entice young boys into remote areas and attack them and for years this went unnoticed. In 1872, Jesse Pomeroy was finally arrested for these attacks and sentenced to a 'school for boys'. At the age of fourteen, Jesse Pomeroy was sent back to live in South Boston, Massachusetts with his mother and brother. A short while after his return, ten year old Katie Curran was reported missing. On April 24, 1874 Jesse Pomeroy killed and disposed of four year old Horace Millen, mutilated, near a marsh. Police suspected Jesse Pomeroy immediately and got permission to search his residence where the body of Katie Curran was carelessly disposed. During the trial, Jesse Pomeroy was described as 'mentally deficient'. Jesse Pomeroy was sentenced to be hung, but this never happened. He died in jail of natural causes.
